Remote learning at RBIS during the covid-19 crisis

Academic planning has been put in place allowing learning to continue through age-appropriate strategies in each section of our school community. Traditional non-technology has been employed with education packs distributed in Primary to support remote learning until further notice. In Secondary new technology and online learning opportunities are successfully in place in the classrooms and being rapidly adopted across the school community, with google hangout groups, google classroom learning and Zoom video conferencing aiding learning and supporting all important social networking for well-being.

During these exceptional circumstances RBIS recognises its social obligation to the community; for example: members of the school administrative and learning teams staffed contact points throughout the Easter holiday period to provide all important well-being support to the parents and students and community challenges were created by teachers for students to complete during the two-week break.

Working from home or school, RBIS teachers are consistently in discussion with pupils, who are getting one to one support and advice; student work is being driven by challenging and creative tasks and projects; and our support staff are working around the clock to support students in as much depth as possible in the current climate. Our teachers are also working with students outside of the classroom, often offering advice and fielding questions outside of their class timetable and hours. Similarly, our staff have continued to offer community challenges for students to interact with one another after school and over the weekend showing that the RBIS community is as strong now as it has ever been.
